Intel's Anti-Theft Technology Hits Market With Asus P Series

Earlier this year, Intel announced a new anti-theft technology to the market in their processors. However, ever since, we haven't heard much of it until now.

Just recently, Asus began to incorporate the technology in their laptops, starting out with the P30 and P80.

What the technology allows is for the owner of the laptop to send a "poison pill" if their laptop is stolen. The "pill" shuts down the computer, making it inoperable. If the laptop is ever recovered, the user could use a password to unlock it.

Of course, this new technology won't have an immediate effect. Unless there is a giant red sticker on the unit saying "Anti-Theft Technology Built In," the laptop will just be as likely to be stolen as any other laptop! However, as more computers across Asus' and other computer manufacturers lines begin to incorporate this technology, laptop theft could become a thing of the past.
