Few weeks back Sony unveiled its HD screen device called the Sony atracTable. This device has a 35 inch, full Hi-Definition touch screen. Developed by a Swiss company, Atractsys, the atracTable will be launched sometime this month, and is bringing significant competition to Microsoft Surface.
The Sony atracTable will be able to recognize the movements made by the users body, and according to Sony the device will also recognize the users age, sex and emotional status. Quite similar to Microsoft Surface the device will also be able to interact with movie devices, like cell phones, that are placed on the screen.
The prototype of the atracTable, also done by Atracsys, is ready. It has been told that the device will be a full HD screen with high contrast. It is not yet clear weather or not this announcement is official or simply a leak. Sony has made no announcements on the project but Atracsys has made an announcement just after they sold the technology to Sony.
According to Pocket-Lint, the device will have two Sony ISS XCD-V60 cameras which will create 3D images and a third camera to control the cursor. The atracTable is useful for giving demonstrations of products and services in larger markets. Sony already has a great touch sensing background and with the gesture control features of Atracsys the atracTable is becoming the perfect competition for the Microsoft Surface.
