Microsoft launches “Visual Search” in Bing

What Microsoft is launching is very cool, mind you. It’s just not, strictly speaking, a search feature. At least not a general one.

The new feature shows you pretty Silverlight-powered fly-in thumbnail images for only 50 specific search results (it will be expanded in the future), such as “Digital cameras,” “New cars,” “MLB players,” and “Top songs.” As you refine a query from one of the 50 visual searches available, thumbnails that don’t match your query anymore fly off screen, and the rest reshuffle to fill in the blank spaces.

The Visual Search feature showcases the real value of having a search engine that blends structured data into its results. Google has structured data, too. (Try searching for the title of a movie that’s currently playing in theaters). But Bing pushes it further. In travel, sports, and product reviews, for example, Bing is extremely aggressive in displaying structured data. Bing also has Powerset technology (it acquired the company in 2008) for analyzing Wikipedia content.
Why not give it a try ? But before that you should know that it is only accessible from United States !

But don’t worry we a little trick in browser, here :

Go to bing.com/worldwide and set your country as United States. Save the settings and you will then be able to enjoy the visual search feature of Bing at bing.com/visualsearch. Finally you need to have Microsoft Silverlight installed on your PC , before using this feature . If you dont have download it from here : Microsoft Downloads

As Bing is getting popular now-a-days and many people have started using this as their default search engine, adding Microsoft Bing search engine to your firefox would be great  deal to save your time and make searching faster. We need to add Bing Search engine extension for Firefox to do this.

Add Bing Search Engine to Firefox Search Box :
1. To start searching on Bing from your Firefox browser itself, you need to install Bing Search plugin for Firefox on your browser.
2. After the installation you will get Bing search engine option activated.
3. Simply select Bing as your default search engine.
4. You are done.

Now you don’t have to visit Bing’s homepage to make searches, navigate to the Firefox inbuilt search box and search with your queries!
